What is God Like?

People, the world over, are asking, “What is God like?”

The answer is not as complicated as it might seem.  For the answer is wrapped up in Jesus Christ, who according to His own Word, showed us, by his Words and actions, what God is like.  So, without further ado let me introduce you to Christ:

When you show me hate, I will show you how much I can love,

When you show me prejudice, I will show you fairness and impartiality,

When you show me ignorance, I will show you wisdom and brilliance,

When you show me selfishness, I will show you sacrifice,

When you show me injustice, I will show you justice and fairness,

When you show me how much people can sin, I will show you how much I can forgive,

When you show me how narrow people can be, I will show you how wide I can be,

When you try to dazzle me with your brilliance and learning, I will show you my creation,

When you think you understand the mystery of life, I will show you true life that never ends.

So, what is God like?  He is like Christ, who never did anything wrong, but was crucified because he represented a threat to the ‘status quo’ power structure.  He is like Christ, who healed the sick and forgave those who had no mercy.  He befriended those who were friendless, and reached out to those who were in need.  He forgave those who asked for mercy, and judged those who refused to accept the truth.  He was both a Savior and a Judge.  A Savior to those who accepted His offer, and a judge to those who refused the gift of God.

God is not some figment of the imagination.  Nor, is He whatever we want Him to be, or imagine Him to be.  He is, that He is.  He is the Great I Am.  The Almighty.  The Creator.  The Savior.  The Provider.  It is our choice what we do with Him.
